Grieving with Hope: Interview with Amanda McNeil

July 24, 2025

In this deeply compassionate episode, Anna McLaughlin sits down with Dr. Amanda McNeil—therapist, pastor, author, and “velvet hammer” of truth—to talk about what it really means to grieve with God. With over 15 years of counseling experience and personal stories of loss, infertility, and healing, Amanda brings wisdom that is both clinical and soul-soothing.

They explore how grief is more than bereavement—it’s the emotional process of adapting to unwanted change. Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a dream, a job, or a sense of normalcy, Amanda equips listeners with practical tools and spiritual truths to navigate grief without losing faith. Her book, Overcoming the Overcast: Navigating the Storms of Grief with God, became an Amazon #1 New Release in Christian Counseling in November 2024.

Through honest dialogue, Amanda and Anna offer hope, theology, and tangible steps to face grief in God’s grace.

About She Considers a Field… Podcast

The mission of the She Considers a Field… podcast is to encourage and equip homeschooling entrepreneurs to build a legacy of peace, purpose and JOY.

If you’re a homeschooling entrepreneur, you are uniquely equipped to advance the Kingdom of God – both deep, through educating and raising your children, and wide, through your business. But guilt, frustration and overwhelm can keep us stuck from walking in all the Father has for us. As a fellow homeschooling entrepreneur mama with almost a decade of practice in both spaces, I understand how soul-stretching these roles are. On this podcast, you’ll find compassionate, strategic talk about how to wear all the many hats WELL – from a place of fullness, not deficit. Whether you’re currently homeschooling and running a business or you’re simply wanting to be intentional about walking out your faith in the areas of family and finance, there’s something for you here.

This road of stewarding well the gifts God has given us isn’t always easy – but it’s always worth it.
